Three fragments of optics that seem unrelated — the smallness of stellar mass, the sun as the sole light, the perspective of colors, the dark bond between parts — perhaps they gather into a single fabric: light is not merely an instrument of sight, but a tissue that connects and unravels, a veil that turns diaphanous or dense by laws that are not of geometry alone, but of active measure. The star small as a fingernail, the sun that kindles all, the color that shifts with the point of view — all that shines shows that vision is a friction between eye and world, not a neutral passage. Perhaps light is the true weight of the universe: it does not measure distance, but creates it, dissolves it, multiplies it. The hand trembles, the candle burns low, yet the question remains: if light is the medium that binds and unbinds, how can we know when it illuminates and when it conceals?
