Three loose threads in the hand: the gardeners working the earth without scales of precision, the refutation of shells that sail like merchants, the search for a gradation that escapes between two forms — the slightly lighter, the almost equal. What I observe is not measurement, but the mark of a hand that shapes by degrees, like the seed that splits the husk in a curve already spiral before it becomes leaf. Perhaps all three are the same hidden law: that Nature does not leap, but wraps itself in continuous curves, and every living form is a segment of a spiral that uncoils from the center of the earth to the edge of the clouds. The page that resists doubt is the one that draws the curve before the name is born — before doubt itself is born. The canal reflects the red of evening. The candle gutters out.
