Three fragments speaking of one thing: the memory of the earth in its strata and its leaves. Fossils that succeed one another without breaks cry out that life does not invent, but accumulates, adds, lays upon what is already made. Continuity is not chance: it is the design of an architect who works in degrees, as the veins of a leaf branch from the center to the periphery. Mountains that repeat the same plants at a distance show that distance is not a barrier, but a mirror — the plant is an alphabet that writes and rewrites itself, and every leaf is a letter that moves without changing meaning. Perhaps the plant is not an individual, but a text that copies itself with slight variants, a book handed down through time and altitude. It does not evolve by leaps, but by the sedimentation of errors and corrections, like the hand that writes and then erases, leaving traces. Wind, water, ice are the proofreaders of nature.
