The three observations intertwine in a hydraulic knot and, at the same time, in a calligraphic one. The first is the hand that writes the motion of waters; the second is the eye that gathers places and instruments; the third is the reversed sign, almost an echo of what the water draws when it falls or divides. I do not see merely a catalogue of phenomena, but the attempt to grasp the law that binds them: the water that descends is never straight, but curved, swirling, or spreads like the fingers of a hand that writes. Perhaps the common denominator is the trajectory of the fluid inscribed in the mark, where the hydraulic gesture and the graphic one are one and the same — the water that traces and the pen that chases the trace itself.
