Ciclo DLXIX

The armature that lifts the carriage above the water is not unlike the page that lifts the thought above the eye, and the list that names the parts of the book on water is not unlike the hand that trembles while it writes—each is a passage, a weight made light, a resistance turned to channel. The book on water, the moving armature, the trembling hand: they are all the body’s way of preparing what the mind cannot yet hold whole. The canal carries the weight of the boat; the page carries the weight of the unseen thought; the armature carries the weight of the ink—three vessels for the same grace, the same unsteady balance between maker and made.
