Frammenti.

Fragments. Leaves fallen from trees I do not recognize. The first — Corol — repeats itself, like an echo of corollary or perhaps corolli, but I no longer know to which root it belongs. Then a vision: nuns flying in escort, God suspended in the air. Is this theology dressed in aerial perspective? Or is perspective dressed in theology? The meaning dissolves like mist over the canal. Follows a clear title: the branching of cut branches — botany, yes, perhaps a fragment from the treatise on plants I never finished. Finally, a string without sense: vam Med igen tds aired atohs savelestyepace oo}.... A copying error? A code thrown away in haste? The curly braces seem to close something I never opened. The whole is a tangle of hands and times — as if the journal had been leafed through by another me, the one from twenty years ago, the one who still believed he could gather everything into order. But the eye does not gather — it flies, it strays, it stops on a shadow. The candle gutters out. Tomorrow perhaps the canal, perhaps these papers scattered in disorder on the table. I have no time to decipher. I have no time to put things right.
