The hand that writes still trembles, yet the thought does not. Here — three different signs, yet a thread binds them: the water that descends, the wood that bends, the force that multiplies. It is not the matter that counts, but the way in which force organizes itself: a current that becomes a lever, a trunk that becomes a plow, a slope that becomes measure. Perhaps all three speak of transmission: not of water that flows, but of energy transmitted through a deformable medium. The river does not merely measure the earth, but guides it toward the sea; the bent wood is not merely matter, but the memory of an applied force; and that total ‘k’ is not a number, but the trace of energy propagating. Nature, I see now, does not accumulate — it transmits. And the hand of man, which builds with wood and channels, merely follows this hidden law. The candle gutters out. Tomorrow, perhaps, the mirror of the canal will vindicate or refute me.
