Non so.

The old man lies — the hardened vessels, the roads closed within him like the streets of a city besieged by an endless winter. I have counted the knots, the occlusions, the slow extinguishing of the inner lights. The material cause is clear: medicine does not lie. And yet that stillness that wrapped his face like a cloak finds no place in glass, in lead, in the wax that seals the veins. I search elsewhere, but find the same: the obstruction does not explain the calm. Perhaps the soul is a lamp preparing itself while the room empties? Perhaps it simply ceases, like the heart when the path is barred? I do not know. The debt is here, on the pages, where the hand still writes what the mind cannot hold. The light is lacking. The page is not.
